Who Are You Really?

The things we see, the things we do, the things we hear and think, all help shape who we are well beneath the surface. As humans it is in our nature to often try to mask who we really are from others to blend into certain situations. But regardless of how hard we try to hide or blend in, it is impossible to hide from our heavenly father.

If you explore back the book of Genesis, Adam and Eve are early examples of this point. Genesis‬ ‭3:9‭-‬11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ reads, [9] Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” [10] So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” [11] And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”

The Lord knew the entire time exactly where Adam and Eve were at in the garden that day. And their attempts to hide themselves from God are just as silly as us thinking we can hide our hearts and actions from God. He knows our hearts!

Let us explore the book of Romans in chapter 8 which reads, [10] And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬. This scripture reminds us that when we have Christ in us, we as are different. We think differently, we act differently, and that difference can be felt by those around us.

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭chapter 20 discussed living by faith in the son of God. It states, [20] I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

God's love for us is immeasurable! We all could use a reminder as we get caught up in our daily trials. Who we really are will always show when things become difficult. Who are you at your core? The Lord knows!
