Christ-Like Communication

We are constantly communicating. We communicate with friends, family, acquaintances etc. We communicate good news, bad news, need to know information and so much more. But what does it mean to communicate more like Christ?

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:29‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ tells us: Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

No matter the subject matter of any discussion, there is a way to control what comes out of our mouths. Some of us have a harder time at this than others, but ultimately we have to control whY comes out of our mouths. Are we communicating in a manner that is edifying and out of love? If not, what can we do as individuals to correct this?

‭‭James‬ ‭1:19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ reads: So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;

This is the perfect application for those of us who struggle with Christ-Like Communication. We need to practice hearing quickly with an effort to truly understand. Likewise our response needs to be less swift and we need to be much slower to anger.

Jesus tells us in ‭‭John‬ ‭13:34‭-‬35‬ ‭“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  [35] By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Starting with love as the foundation of our communication puts us miles ahead when trying to communicate more like Christ. Let us all make a dedicated effort to put love back into the way we communicate.
