You Were Warned!

Matthew 18:6-7 - But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

Jesus issues a stern warning to those who lead others to sin. The scripture is clear: sin is any rebellion or transgression against God, and all sins matter in His eyes. There are no "small" ones!

Some argue, "I haven't wronged anyone, so I'm sinless." However, Matthew 18 warns us against causing even one young believer to stumble. Our actions and attitudes significantly impact others, especially new Christians. (Sin can be both our actions and our inaction.)

Let's seek God's answer to this important question.

James 4:17- Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.

I think that answers that!

Let’s just take a few items and see if we all can all do a better job at.

1. I know we all have busy lives. Is it fair to say it becomes all about me sometimes? If you answered no, good gob! Or is it all about my family only?  If you answered no, good job! Here is your question, what have I done lately for someone else other than me or my family?

2. When we hurt or have had some tough days, just a little encouragement really helps doesn’t it? A call, card, or a text or email or some other type of communication. Those all are nice for you, but what about you doing that for someone else?

3. When we pray, who did we pray for?

I read this the other day - Don’t feel bad if people remember you only when they need you. Feel privileged that you are like a candle that comes to their mind when there is darkness.

Whoever those little ones might be that Matthew 18 is talking about, are we a plus or a minus helping them get to heaven. Matthew gives us a great verse that should be in hearts, thoughts, and prayers always.

Matthew 5:16 - Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

I am guessing that most do a really good job of letting your light shine. If we can do better, will we?

Luke 12:48 - But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.
